Holland, not Belgium: Dutch and Belgian Footprints in Michigan

Hundreds of thousands of emigrants left Belgium and the Netherlands for the United States, and for both groups of migrants Michigan became an important destination. Yet while Belgian traces have largely disappeared, Dutch roots remain highly visible.
