Co Westerik is a loner in the post-war art of the Netherlands. He combines a craftsmanslike technique with an utterly unique style and approach to his subjects. With very oddly chosen images, in a distorted perspective and a different scale, he is able, while focusing on physicality and flesh, to make tangible such major themes as pain, fear, desolation and death.
