Hadewijch's entire work, but especially the 'Poems in Stanzas', expresses in a way unique in her time (the Middle Ages) the condition of man confronted with the riddle of the absolute, the transcendent, whatever you want to call it - that shining intangible Other of which every age is intuitively aware (with a translated Letter, a Vision and a Poem)
