Like his alter ego Arnon Grunberg the young Dutch novelist Marek van der Jagt writes life stories. His 2000 debut, ‘The Story of My Baldness', could be seen as a novel of adolescence or Bildungsroman. His second novel, ‘Gstaad 95-98', which appeared in 2002, goes further, following a life far into adulthood. And just like his alter ego Van der Jagt is very much preoccupied with (the creation of) identity.
