Surinam and the Dutch Language Union

On 12 December 2003 the Dutch Language Union and the Republic of Surinam signed an ‘association agreement'. Surinam will officially become a member of the Dutch Language Union. The hope is that this will strengthen the ties between users of the Dutch language on both sides of the Atlantic.
