The Nature of Sexual Otherness. Midas Dekkers' ‘Dearest Pet'
(Paul Vincent) The Low Countries - 2008, № 16, pp. 76-77
Midas Dekkers combines an academic position as an internationally respected biologist with a much higher-profile career as a popularising author and broadcaster on Dutch TV. His breakthrough abroad came in 1994 with the publication in Britain and the United States of Dearest Pet, Paul Vincent's translation of his Lief dier. In this short piece Vincent writes about the muted and mixed reception of this book about sexual relations between humans and animals.
