An Open Book in an Open Landscape Dutch Writers in Beijing

In 2011 the Netherlands was playing host to the 19th edition of the Beijing Book Fair, one of the largest and most rapidly expanding book fairs in the world. The presentation was a success. People wondered if the Dutch should have gone to China. The Dutch chose to do so because they believed in establishing contacts between Dutch and Chinese writers and publishers and in the exchange of ideas. If Dutch literature wishes to keep a foot in the door in China, the work is only just beginning.
